Gucci Mane has paid tribute to his former artist Enchanting the late rapper suddenly passed away.
Hours after family and friends confirmed her passing on Tuesday, June 11, the 1017 founder took to Instagram and posted a photo of her wearing two 1017 chains. He also offered his deepest condolences and praised her in his caption.
"So sad to have to say R.I.P to such a great young lady a true star we gone all miss you Chant @luvenchanting 😢 💔," Gucci wrote.
Gucci Mane signed Enchanting to 1017 in 2020. The two collaborated on several songs like "Large Amounts," "Issa Photoshoot," "Big Chant" and the title track of her 2022 album No Luv. She left the label after her last album dropped, and started releasing music independently like her latest song "You."
The Atlanta native has had to say goodbye to two of his former artists in the past two years. In addition to Enchanting, his previous signee Big Scarr also passed away in 2022 following a drug overdose. Scarr had appeared on the label's compilation albums and dropped his Big Grim Reaper mixtape after he was signed in 2020. Following his death, 1017 released two posthumous albums, The Secret Weapon and Frozone. Both Scarr and Enchanting's recent deaths sparked endless posts about the status of 1017's original roster. His wife, Keyshia Ka'oir, echoed Guwop's emotional message about Enchanting and also defended him against trolls in the comment section.
"Leave my husband alone!" Ka'oir commented. "He signs these artist to help them & give them a better life! I wish it wasn’t like this ! Chant we love you baby girl ! RIH 😓"
The rest of 1017's artists are alive and well, but some of them are currently locked up. Pooh Shiesty and Foogiano have been behind bars since 2021. Shiesty was arrested in connection to a shooting inside a Miami strip club and indicted on charges from a 2020 robbery, which also occurred in Miami back in 2020. He plead guilty to a single charge of conspiring to possess firearms in furtherance of crimes of violence and drug trafficking. He was sentenced to five years in prison. Foogiano was also sentenced to five years after he pled guilty to melting off his ankle monitor while on probation.
