Lil Novi got a major co-sign from his dad Lil Wayne ahead of his upcoming song.
In a teaser that was posted to social media on Wednesday, January 22, you can see the 15-year-old rapping a fresh verse while his pops stood by him and acted like his hype man. Although he doesn't contribute to the song, the cameo alone is a sign that Weezy is actively guiding Novi as his son's music career flourishes. According to manager Jave Q, the music video is for Novi's unreleased song "Take A Step."
"I just think its a good look and boost for my career having my dad being in the video," Novi tells iHeartRadio.
"It will get more people's attention and make them actually tap into my music not just because of my dad but because of me and actual curiosity in my music," he added.
The father-son duo have collaborated several times over the past few years. They made their first song in 2020 for Weezy's No Ceilings 3. At the time, Novi went by Young Carter and rapped on "Hollywood." Wayne's other son Kameron also made his debut on the song "Kam." Clearly, Novi has improved a lot since then. He dropped two EPs last year, Bat Kave and B4 The albVm. He also kicked off the year by dropping "Level Up 2" and followed up with his most recent song "2 KOOL 4 SKOOL."
