Trae Tha Truth has finally been reunited with his young daughter, Truth, after she was missing for months.
The Texas native told TMZ he received a call about Heather Cuevas, the mother of his six-year-old daughter, on New Year's Day. Cuevas had been arrested on child endangerment charges in El Centro, Calif. Trae said he immediately booked the next flight out of Texas to San Diego and drove over 100 miles to the town near the Mexican border. In a video he posted to Instagram on Thursday, January 2, you can see the moment when he was reunited with Truth.
Trae had been looking for his daughter for over four months before they were reunited. In an Instagram post he made last month, the seasoned rapper explained how he became Truth's primary parent after he won custody at the beginning of 2024. Trae allowed Truth to spend the summer with her mom, however, things started to go left after their first visitation in Houston. Trae said he dropped off Truth with her mom on Friday, August 16, for a two-day visit. She was supposed to return on Sunday, August 18 by 8 p.m., but the young girl never made it home.
Cuevas allegedly filed false charges against him in several cities. She reportedly claimed he abused her, sexually assaulted her, and threatened their daughter with a gun. Trae said he proved the allegations were false and got a judge to sign a court order demanding Truth's mother to bring her back to him. She refused and allegedly moved to other cities to hide his child with help from her family members. According to Trae, Cuevas will be extradited to Texas soon.
Trae Tha Truth previously released an emotional song dedicated to the search for his daughter. Now that they've been reunited, Trae said he plans to make this year "bigger and better than ever!!"
