“Fixer Upper” stars Chip and Joanna Gaines have yet to make an official statement after a controversial story published by BuzzFeed sought to pressure them into revealing their personal beliefs on gay marriage.
“Chip And Joanna Gaines’ Church Is Firmly Against Same-Sex Marriage,” the BuzzFeed headline reads.
“Fixer Upper” stars Chip and Joanna Gaines have yet to make an official statement after a controversial story published by BuzzFeed sought to pressure them into revealing their personal beliefs on gay marriage.
“Chip And Joanna Gaines’ Church Is Firmly Against Same-Sex Marriage,” the BuzzFeed headline reads.
The story’s subheadline employed a potential guilt-by-association tactic:
“Their pastor considers homosexuality to be a “sin” caused by abuse — whether the Fixer Upper couple agrees is unclear.”
Since then, Chip Gaines has made several revealing remarks on Twitter without directly addressing the controversy.
In one classy tweet, Gaines urged fans to “respect” the story's author, BuzzFeed reporter Kate Aurthur and Cosmopolitan editor Gina Mei.
He later revealed his family's response to such “times of trouble” — they go to church more often.
