Britney Spears probably fangirls more frequently than you think she does, but we're guessing that her brief time spent with "Modern Family" star Ed O'Neill was not the way that you'd envision it, considering the actor didn't actually recognize her.
During his recent appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," the 70-year-old actor told the host that he encountered the pop titan during a flight from LAX to Hawaii in May. "She came up and said, 'Oh Mr. O'Neill I love 'Modern Family.' You're my favorite on the show," he recalled. "I didn't know it was her. I mean, look at the look on my face. Do I look like I'm sitting with Britney Spears?"
After the photo went viral on social media, O'Neill's manager broke the truth to the actor, so he called up her manager to apologize for the mix-up. "I got the manager's number. You know my daughter Sofia? She said, 'You are a moron.' So I had to tell my little story. I'm sorry. So I apologized," he explained.
Lesson learned, Ed.
