Tropical Storm Nicole is expected to weaken over the next day.

The National Hurricane Center says west central Florida is feeling the impacts of the storm that has maximum sustained winds of 50 miles per hour.

Nicole made landfall overnight near Vero Beach as a Category 1 hurricane.

The forecast track shows it exiting the Florida peninsula into the Gulf of Mexico and then making another landfall in the Big Bend region of the state.

Georgia is set to get hit tonight with the rest of the southeastern U.S. is expected to deal with the storm tomorrow.
