Jennifer Lopez Reveals Her #MeToo Moment With A Director: 'I Was Terrified'

Early in her career, Jennifer Lopez once had to shut down a director who told the then-Hollywood newcomer that she should remove her top, as per the titan's new interview with Harper's Bazaar

"I haven't been abused in the way some women have," Lopez admitted to the magazine. "But have I been told by a director to take off my shirt and show my boobs? Yes, I have. But did I do it? No, I did not."

Even though she spoke up, the multi-talent, who is on track to wrap up her Las Vegas "All I Have" residency later this year, admitted that she was "terrified" by the potential repercussions. "I remember my heart beating out of my chest, thinking, 'What did I do? This man is hiring me!' It was one of my first movies," she continued. "But in my mind, I knew the behavior wasn't right. It could have gone either way for me. But I think ultimately the Bronx in me was like, 'Nah, we're not having it.'"

Lopez previously spoke out about the Time's Up movement in January when she was doing hurricane relief work in Puerto Rico. While everyone was attending the Golden Globes that evening, Lopez took to her relief event in black to stand strong as a supporter. "A lot of the women with #TimesUp are standing up for equality, to be treated equally, and for sexual harassment. And I stand here today in black, doing the same from far away," she said. "And it's the same thing here in Puerto Rico: We want to be treated equally."
