TS Lee Forms, Maria Could Be Next

Tropical Storm Lee has formed in the Atlantic west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands. For now, the system is no threat to land and is expected to become a remnant low by late next week.

Potential Tropical Cyclone Fifteen is expected to be Tropical Storm Maria sometime on Saturday and could strengthen into a hurricane early next week.

Tropical storm watches are up for parts of the Leeward Islands. It it too early to say if this will threaten the Gulf Coast.

Jose continues to move slowly northwestward and could remain far enough to sea to spare the U.S. East Coast any major impacts. Still, the National Hurricane Center says interests from North Carolina to New England should monitor the storm over the coming days.
