Kendrick Lamar is breaking his silence on his Grammy snub. The Compton-born emcee was nominated for seven trophies at Sunday's awards ceremony, but came up empty-handed, losing most of the rap categories to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.
Kendrick tells XXLMag.com that the duo's four wins were "well deserved." He adds that Macklemore "went out there and hustled and grinded."
As for how he feels about not winning any Grammys, Kendrick says "everything happens for a reason." Kendrick also remarked on whether he believes the Grammys undervalue hip-hop, saying "they should always have more of the culture" in the awards ceremony.
Macklemore previously said he believes Kendrick Lamar was "robbed" of a Grammy for Best Rap Album. Following the awards ceremony, Macklemore even sent K-Dot a text telling him that he wanted his good kid, m.A.A.d. city to win Best Rap Album.
