Two LSU Football Freshmen Face Misdemeanor Charges

Two LSU freshmen football players face charges, one for allegedly stealing a bicycle outside Middleton Library and the other for allegedly tossing firecrackers into a campus apartment.

Capt. Cory Lalonde told The Advocate on Monday that 17-year-old Trey Lealaimatafao, of San Antonio, Texas, and 19-year-old Davon Godchaux, of Plaquemine, were issued misdemeanor citations in lieu of being booked Thursday into the parish jail.

Lalonde says their cases will be referred to the East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney's office.

LSU spokesman Michael Bonnette says coach Les Miles has met with both players and each will be disciplined internally.

Lalonde says surveillance video July 1 captured Lealaimatafao allegedly taking a bike from the library's loading dock, while Godchaux admitted throwing the firecrackers into an apartment as a prank.

Lealaimatafao was a coveted recruit thought to compete for playing time immediately. That was put into question after he punched through glass in the Tigers' weight room, suffering a deep cut to his arm.
