The NOPD has made two more arrests in connection with an August 10 shooting incident on Burgundy Street that left two persons dead and five others, including two little boys, injured.
23-year-old Joseph Nelson III was arrested Monday at 300 N. Broad on two counts of first-degree murder and five counts of attempted first-degree murder. The NOPD believes Nelson was the second shooter in the incident.
The first person identified as a shooter, 20-year-old Blair Taylor, was arrested on the same charges last week.
Police have said they believe the target was the 33-year-old man who was shot to death. Also fatally wounded was a 16-year-old girl.
The victims were shot after they had gathered on a porch.
Also arrested Monday on charges of obstruction of justice was 25-year-old Ashely Shorts. The NOPD believes Shorts assisted one of the shooters to help them avoid detection and prosecution.
A fourth person has been charged in the case. 25-year-old Jeffrey Rivers was arrested last week on charges that he was a principal to murder and attempted murder. Police allege that he supplied one of the guns and a vehicle used in the drive-by shootings.
