City officials say work is underway to repair or replace broken streetlights along Interstate 10 in New Orleans East.

Public Works Director Mark Jernigan tells Fox 8 the city is working with Entergy New Orleans to get that done.

"Some of the infrastructure that Entergy operates to provide power to the streetlights also had to be fixed. There's a transformer out between Read and Crowder that was not providing electricity to about 80 streetlights on the interstate. We got with Entergy, they've come out and repaired the transformer," Jernigan said.

Repairs to the streetlights along I-10 in New Orleans East began last week and are expected to be completed this fall.
